Downtown Disney Rivercruise and Water Taxi's to re-open later this month

Aug 4th 2014 at 8:36

Work on the new boat dock in Downtown Disney's Marketplace area is nearly completed, and both the Sassagoula Rivercruise and the Water Taxi service will be back to usual operation later this month.

The Marketplace Boat Dock closed several months ago as part of the ongoing construction work that will see Downtown Disney transformed into Disney Springs, a new shopping district. Whilst the main Disney Springs project is not estimated to be completed until some time in 2016, the water boat services should resume normal operation from August 15, 2014.

There are however a few changes to the operations of all boat services that will come into effect on August 15, and of course a few things to remind guests of how the water services work:

  • The Water Taxi service runs from the Marketplace dock to the Pleasure Island dock and the West Side dock - they do not stop at Saratoga Springs or any other resorts.
  • A separate service which runs from the Pleasure Island dock to Disney's Port Orleans Resort will return to the Marketplace dock.
  • A third service that currently runs from the West Side dock to Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Port Orleans Resort will also stop at the Marketplace dock once it reopens.

The new dock will open on August 15, 2014 at 9:00am. A small opening ceremony will be taking place, which is open to the public.
