Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge villas are split between the main Animal Kingdom Lodge resort (Jambo House), where Disney have basically converted groups of standard rooms into villas. These rooms are usually a little bigger than those found at the main villa location, Kidani Village.

Kidani Village was built next to the resorts main building, Jambo House as an exclusive Disney Vacation Club villa area, extending the existing resort. The area has its own facilities and recreation, but guests are free to use the facilities found at Jambo House as well.

Most of the villas offered at both Jambo House and Kidani Village have savannah views, a few do have pool views instead.

Kidani Village continues the African theme found at Jambo House, and has a smaller lobby area, which still manages to give that 'wow factor' as you enter.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas Recreation

Since the villas are offered at both Kidani Village and Jambo house, guests are free to use the facilities at both areas.

Jambo House

At Jambo House, you have a single swimming pool called the Uzima Pool. It is a 11,000 square-foot, zero-depth entry pool and includes a 67-foot long water slide. The pool is designed to look like an African watering hole (this used to work much better as the pool bottom was painted brown however during a refurbishment it was painted back to blue). This is a great pool to relax at. A kids pool is located close by in addition to a hot tub. Behind the pool there is a pink flamingo exhibit, and just behind that is the savannah. Multiple walkways take you around the savannah area from the pool.

Other recreational activities at Jambo House include:

  • Animal Programs - an up close encounter with exotic animals. These take place at night and include Flaming feeding, Night vision viewing of animals, Animal tracking, Wildlife games, African arts and crafts and Campfire storytelling - check at the front desk for a complete schedule.
  • Hakuna Matata Playground - A 24-hour playground located next to the Uzima Pool.
  • Pumbaa's Fun & Games Arcade - A 24-hour high-tech arcade with classic and modern arcade games located next to the Mara quick-service restaurant, close to the Uzima Pool.
  • Simba's Clubhouse Children's Activity Center - A supervised activity center for kids aged 3-12 that is open daily from 4:30 PM to midnight.
  • Zahanati Massage & Fitness Center - Burn off those delicious Boma Zebra Dome's with this full service gym, spa and salon, offering massage therapy, skin care and body treatments in addition to steam rooms.

Kidani Village

Kidani Village has its own 4,700 square foot, zero-entry pool called the "Samawati Springs Pool". It has a 128-foot long water slide and is surrounded by large canopy trees and Floridian palms. It has two hot tubs located next to it.

Located close by the Samawati Springs Pool is the Uwanja Camp, an animal observation site-themed water play area, with three interactive areas for kids of all ages.

Other recreational activities at Kidani Village include:

  • Tennis - There are two hard courts with floodlights. Use of equipment is complimentary to resort guests.
  • Survival of the Fittest Fitness Center - A complete fitness facility with state of the art equipment,. Facilities include treadmills, weights, ellipticals, bicycles and stair climbers. It is open from 6am to 9pm daily and is free to resort guests. A personal trainer can also be booked.

  • Barbecue Pavilion - This is a free to use barbecue area, with two charcoal barbecue grills and two covered picnic tables, and is located near the sports courts.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas Transport

Kidani Village has its own bus stops, as does Jambo House. The Disney bus service runs regularly from the resort to all parks.

You will be provided with a complete transportation map when you check in  which gives you instructions on how to get to all the different areas on Disney property. To get to the different areas you'll just need to make sure you board the right bus. They display their destination clearly on top, however if you are unsure you can always ask the driver or a cast member.

The Disney bus transportation system is one of the easiest ways of getting around. Busses depart from the resort to all the parks regularly and are completely free to use at any time. The bus services generally stop running once the parks close, and tend to run for an hour either side of the park hours. During extra magic hours they will run slightly longer.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas Dining

At Kidani Village, you have a single restaurant, Sanaa. Sanaa is a table-service restaurant (1 dining plan credit) offering flavourful tandoor oven and slow-cooked specialities. From the restaurant, you overlook animals roaming around the resorts private savannah. Menu items include Spicy Durban Chicken, Shrimp with Green Curry Sauce and Coconut-Curry Lamb.

In addition to this, at Jambo House you have a choice of three restaurants:

Boma - Flavors of Africa is a table-service buffet restaurant offering a delicious selection of African cuisine inspired by the culinary culture of more than 50 countries. If you're staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge you'll most certainly want to visit Boma. The restaurant is open from 7:30AM to 9:30PM. Some of the items on the menu include authentic African soups, wood-roasted meats, fresh seafood, Durban-spiced roasted chicken and the restaurants signature drink, Frunch.

Jiko - The Cooking Place is a fine-dining table-service restaurant (this costs two table-service credits if on the dining plan) set in a beautifully themed restaurant with the colors of an African sunset. The restaurant features bold flavors of traditional African, Indian and Mediterranean cuisine, paired with an impressive selection of wines. Sample menu items include wild boar tenderloin, oak-grilled fillet mignon and grilled wiled gulf shrimp curry.

The Mara - a quick-service location offering the traditional Disney fair, with a few additions thrown in such as sandwiches, flatbreads, burgers and chicken. There are also a number of cold items offered in the cooler section, which can be taken away. These items include fruit bowls, salads, sandwiches and a selection of deserts and beverages. This is ideal for those sitting around the pool as The Mara is within a few steps.
