Epcot's Odyssey Restaurant to show the World Cup live, and offer food for a 1 month period

Jun 9th 2014 at 9:04

The Odyssey Restaurant in Epcot, which has been closed for years will re-open later this week throughout the FIFA World Cup, showing all matches live and offering Grab & Go foods throughout the month-long event.

The restaurant will open from June 12 to July 12 2014, and will serve take away items and beverages. Themed merchandise will also be offered in the lobby area of the restaurant.

The restaurant will be showing all World Cup matches live, in addition to many locations across the Walt Disney World property.

The Odyssey closed back in 1994 and has been used sporadically for special events, but has never been open again for a long period other than occasionally for the Food and Wine Festival events. It was speculated for years that the reason for the closure was the same as the former Horizons attraction that sat where Mission: SPACE is - A sinkhole. However unlike Horizons, Disney elected not to close the building completely, suggesting the reason for closure was more down to it affecting, or being affected by sales in the World Showcase Restaurants.
