Asia opened slightly later than the rest of the park, in 1999. Like Africa, Asia is set in a fictional place. It comprises of two fictional villages; the riverside village of Anandapur and Serka Zong, which is located in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains.
Asia features the Kali River Rapids, a themed rafting expedition along the Chankranadi River, courtesy of “Kali River Expeditions”. In keeping with the message of conservation across Animal Kingdom, the attraction deals with illegal logging and habitat destruction.
Asia is also home to Expedition Everest, a high-speed roller coaster through the Himalayas. Expedition Everest features the tallest of the artificial mountains in Disney World. Everest is one of the more unique coasters in Disney World as it travels both forwards and backwards.
Asia features two restaurants; Yak and Yeti and Anandapur Ice Cream Truck. The Yak and Yeti is one of the most popular restaurants in the park, offering Pan-Asian cuisine including honey chicken, miso salmon and tempura shrimp.
