Disney's Art of Animation Resort opened in 2012 and features 2,000 rooms, themed around Disney and Pixar Animation.
There are 1,120 "family suites" and 864 "standard rooms".
The resort rooms are all themed around Disney and Pixar animated classics and are split into four themed areas:
Unlike Disney's other value resorts, Art of Animation is the first to feature mainly Family Rooms, as most have opted for a standard room featuring two twin beds.
The layout of the resort is very similar to its neighboring Disney's Pop Century resort, right down to the positioning of the blocks of rooms and the main reception building. It was initially going to be an extension of the Pop Century resort, however construction was halted in the early 2000s, and Disney changed their plans, to create the Art of Animation Resort. You can still walk across the bridge to the Pop Century resort, and many guests choose to share the facilities at both resorts.

The family suite rooms each sleep six guests and have a master bedroom and three separate sleeping areas. One of the unique features of these rooms is the "Inovabed", a table that converts into a bed in seconds.
Each family room has a kitchenette, two bathrooms and the usual amenities such as a safe, luggage rack, table, chairs, flat-screen television, etc.

There are 4 courtyard areas at the resort, each inspired by one of the four Disney animated films featured as room themes. There is a main pool in the Finding Nemo area, which is in front of the main resort reception and food court building. Two slightly smaller pools are located at the Cars and Little Mermaid areas.
Other recreation includes a games arcade ("Pixel Play Arcade") in the main building, a 1.38 mile long jogging/walking trail, the "Righteous Reef Playground" in the Finding Nemo courtyard and nightly Disney movies played by the pool on a big screen
A large bus terminal is located in front of the resorts main building, with stops for each park. The busses operate from one-hour before parks open and then up to and hour after they close. Busses to Downtown Disney operate until 2:00am.
TIP: Sometimes the Disney Bus service can be a bit slow. It's sometimes quicker to jump on a bus to the Pop Century resort, as its only over the bridge from the Art of Animation.
The resort doesn't have a table-service restaurant, however it does have a large counter-service food court, the Landscape Cafe, which offers a bright and spacious dining area and a huge selection of foods, each split into four individually themed stations. a "Grab 'n Go" market is also available.
Some of the items offered include pizzas, rotisserie chicken, pasta, barbecued ribs, sandwiches, salads, baked goods, fruit and more.
There is also a poolside bar, located by the main pool which offers a range of beverages and light snacks.
