The Yacht Club sits right next to its sister resort, The Beach Club. While they are both very similar resorts, and they do share their resources,The Yacht Club has a much more quiet and elegant feel to it. While it is still mostly themed as a sophisticated New-England retreat, The Yacht Club brings additional sophistication with the use of dark hard-wood flooring in addition to leather couches and antique chandeliers in the lobby area. The resort also continues the small hints of a nautical theme that can be seen around The Beach Club, with brass fixtures and rich millwork.
The Yacht Club has 630 rooms, or 1213 when combined with The Beach Club. The rooms have a nautical theme with white furnature and blue textiles. Each room has either two queen-sized beds or a single king-sized bed. The resort also have "Murphy Rooms" which include a king-sized bed which folds up into the wall. These rooms are generally smaller than the standard rooms, but are also cheaper.
Standard room facilities include:
The resort's main pool, Stormalong Bay is a beachside water park, with 3 acres of water fun. The pool has a sand bottom and a lazy river in addition to a shipwreck that kids can explore and slid along one of the highest hotel water slides. There is a small pool next to the main one for small kids.
There are also three quiet pools at the resort, which are shared with the Beach Club Resort. Hot-Tub's are also located at the quiet pools.
Other recreational activities at the resort include:
Watercraft Rentals - You can rent Sea Raycers, kayaks, pontoon boats, canoes, sailboats and pedal boats and take them out onto the lake.
Lafferty Place Arcade - An arcade with state of the art video games and is located in Yacht & Beach Club Common area. It is open from 7am to 1am and uses a token system to use the arcade attractions. Guests can purchase tokens in the arcade. Some arcade games provide rewards in the form of tickets which can be redeemed for prizes.
Jogging Trail - A scenic paved trail that takes you around 5 Epcot area Resort hotels and loops around the scenic Crescent Lake for approximately 0.8 miles.
Bike Rentals - Rent either standard or surrey bikes and take a leisurely ride around the waterfront and boardwalk area.
Because of the resorts close proximity to Epcot, its obviously very easy to pop into Epcot. You can also take the monorail from the front of Epcot through to the Magic Kingdom and on to its surrounding resort areas. A boat service also operates to take guests into Epcot's rear entrance and Hollywood Studios.
The only parks you cant get to via water taxi are Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and the water parks. Busses operate from the resort regularly and depart to all Disney parks and Downtown Disney.
You will be provided with a complete transportation map when you check in which gives you instructions on how to get to all the different areas on Disney property. To get to the different areas you'll just need to make sure you board the right bus. They display their destination clearly on top, however if you are unsure you can always ask the driver or a cast member.
The Disney bus transportation system is one of the easiest ways of getting around. Busses depart from the resort to all the parks regularly and are completely free to use at any time. The bus services generally stop running once the parks close, and tend to run for an hour either side of the park hours. During extra magic hours they will run slightly longer.
When staying at the Yacht or Beach Club, you've got a great selection of dining options. You can take a short walk into Epcot's world showcase and sample foods from all over the world, or stroll along to the Beachclub or Swan and Dolphin hotels.
At the Yacht Club and Beach Club you'll find five restaurants:
Yachtsman Steakhouse - A nautical themed restaurant boasting high-grade steak, succulent seafood, free-range chicken and juicy lamb dishes. This is a signature-dining restaurant, so guests on the Disney Dining plan will use two table-service credits if dining here.
Cape May Cafe - Offering a breakfast buffet with Goofy and friends, and a seafood buffet in the evening which also has a tantalizing selection of non-seafood dishes such as carved meats and ribs. This is a standard table-service location
Captain's Grille - An all you care to eat buffet location serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. This restaurant continues the nautical theme and offers a great selection of seafood in the evening.
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop - A counter-service location, themed to look like 50's style soda shop, complete with a working Jukebox. Menu items include sandwiches, burgers and delicious ice cream deserts. We recommend you try the Kitchen Sink - 8 scoops of ice cream smothered in toppings, with brownies and other goodies thrown in and served in a kitchen sink bowl!
