The Kali River Rapids is Walt Disney World's only water rapid ride…and they have really gone all out with it too!
The queue area winds through an ancient Southeast Asian temple and through other asian themed areas. The queues get very long for Kali, so you might want to get yourself a fast pass. As you approach the loading area you'll start to regret your choice to ride, as you see people walk past you looking like they fell in the river!
You board your 12-seater rubber craft from a moving platform. The raft then free floats around to a hill which takes you on to the ride. What's really great is the immense attention to detail that has gone into the scenes you see as you get pushed around the river by the current. You float through a tropical forest before coming to an opening that looks like loggers have been chopping down the rainforst setting and burning everything. Your craft then free falls down multiple drops, twists and turns.
Make not mistake, there is a very high chance that you will get drenched. We're not talking Splash Mountain here, we're talking waves coming over your head. Usually you'll find 2 or 4 of you in the car will be them most soaked, while others may get away with a few puddles in their lap!
Unless you're happy walking around the park all day in sopping wet clothes, we recommend either wearing a poncho, or doing this ride before you're about to leave.
Unless you're happy walking around the park for the day soaking, dont ride in the morning without a poncho!
Disney now provide free lockers for guests riding on the Kali River Rapids.
