Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

Tomorrowland, Magic Kingdom

 

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger spin features (as you'd expect) Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story series. Riders walk through a 'galactic training' queue area with an animatronic Buzz Lightyear figure explaining that you'll be helping to save the galaxy from the evil Emperor Zurg. You then board a ride car which seats two, with two laser guns fitted to the front. These are very similar in concept to the 'Doom Buggies' that you ride on the Haunted Mansion ride. 

When you depart the station you'll tour through different areas of the Galaxy, and your goal is to shoot as many of the Zurg targets as possible. The more accurate you are, the more points you get. The laser gun allows you to keep your finger held down on the button and will constantly fire. The laser used is very low power so theres no chance of damaging someones eye sight with it. 

Your ride car can also twist around a complete 360 degrees using a joystick on the car. This allows you to move your car to shoot as many targets as possible. You've got a small display next to your gun so you can keep track of your score and see how well you did at the end.

Buzz is a fantastic ride, you'll probably want to do it more than once if its your first time so that you can get used to the laser gun, so grab a fast pass then head to the standby line. By the time you're done you'll probably find its not too long till your fast pass time is up!
