The Walt Disney Railroad is an old fasioned railroad which does a complete loop of the Magic Kingdom. The line has four steam locomotives and transports over 1.5 million Magic Kingdom guests each year. The railroad starts at the lower end of Main Street U.S.A, right by the park entrance. You actually pass under the railroad as you enter Main Street from the turnstiles. From Main street, it goes around to Frontierland, and stops right next to Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. From there, it continues back around to Main Street U.S.A. The Railroad used to stop in Mickey's Toontown Fair, however this area was removed for the Fantasyland expansion. It is expected that a new Railroad station will be opened in the expanded Fantasyland area later in 2012.

For those interested in learning more about the Walt Disney World Railroad, a tour "Behind the Magic of our Steam Trains" is available where you can join the opening crew as they prepare the trains for daily operation. You can also visit the backstage roundouse where the trains are maintained and stored.

Walt Disney World Railroad Ride Tips

During peak times and parades, you may want to use the railroad to get around to Frontierland to avoid the crowds in Main Street.
