Recreation at Walt Disney World

If you fancy a break from the theme parks, Walt Disney World has tons of other great recreational activities. You've also got a thriving range of recreation outside of Walt Disney World. From golf courses to arcades to bowling. There's something for everyone.

The lists below details just some of the popular recreational activities outside of the parks. Don't forget that if you are staying on-site, you'll probably find multiple activities on offer at your own resort. Many resorts have gyms, sports courts, kids recreation areas, walking trails, etc.

Indoor Recreational Activities

  • Splitsville Bowling Alley - A large 10-pin bowling alley located at Downtown Disney. 
  • Walt Disney World Spa Services - Located at multiple resorts across Walt Disney World, the Disney Spa's are a great way to unwind and relax.
  • Disney Fitness Centers - For the gym lovers, Disney Fitness Centers are offered at multiple resorts, without an additional fee to use the facilities.

Outdoor Recreational Activities

  • Jogging, Biking and Walking Trails - Most resorts have a dedicated trail, providing a great morning jog or cycling option.
  • Golf Courses - With four courses to choose from (3 of which were on the PGA Tour for more than 4 decades), Golf lovers will be in heaven!
  • Miniature Golf - Fantasia Gardens and Winter Summerland are great 'crazy golf' courses.
  • Orlando Golf Courses - Outside of Walt Disney World there are over 200 great golf courses in the Central Florida area.
  • Water Sports - A number of waterspouts such as Parasailing, Waterskiing, Wakeboarding and Jet Skiing are on offer from Disney's Contemporary Resort.
  • Fishing Excursions - Offered from multiple resorts, fishing is offered daily.
  • Bike Rental - Rent a bike to get around Walt Disney World or along its numerous trails.
  • Speciality and Fireworks Cruises - Numerous cruise options are offered, including private firework cruises for Illuminations and Wishes!
  • Carriage Rides and Horse Riding - Ride in an old-fashioned wagon or saddle up for a trail ride at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.
  • Sports Courts - Tennis, Shuffleboard and Basketball courts can be found at a number of resorts.
  • Archery - Offered at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, a fun family activity for all!
