Characters in Flight to return to Downtown Disney with a new balloon
Oct 2nd 2012 at 16:17Following its closure on July 1, 2012 due to safety concerns, Characters in Flight is set to re open soon, with a new balloon design.
Disney have confirmed that the balloon is currently being installed at Downtown Disney and features characters such as Tinker Bell, Peter Pan, Buzz Lightyear, Dumbo, Jasmine and Aladdin on its exterior. The attraction is expected to operate in the same style as before, with no changes to operating hours or schedule confirmed.
An opening date has not yet been provided.
The attraction originally closed due to an accident at a similar balloon, created by the same company, at Hong Kong's Ocean park. Five guests were injured due to the balloon falling 20 meters due to a sudden loss of helium. The Downtown Disney balloon was dismantled as a precaution.
