Major road works begin today along Buena Vista Drive outside Downtown Disney

As part of the ongoing Downtown Disney / Disney Springs construction project there will be major road works starting today along Buena Vista Drive.

The construction work is expected to last until the opening of Disney Springs, which would be 2016. Guests driving along Buena Vista Drive should expect significant delays, with areas of the road being restricted to 35 MPH.

The first phase of road works will include the following:

• Buena Vista Drive will be reduced to two lanes in each direction from Bonnet Creek Parkway to Hotel Plaza Boulevard.
• Median strips will be paved over.
• Concrete barriers will be installed along the road to allow quick diversion of traffic between lanes.

In addition to this it'll also mean that guests will now use Entrances 2 and 5 to access Downtown Disney. Other entrances may be closed or inaccessible if driving on the opposite side of the road.
