A new refillable mug service will be launched across Walt Disney World hotels starting in the next few weeks, dubbed "Rapid Fill".
The rollout starts at Disney's All Star Resorts later in July, and will then be rolled out across other resorts.
The new mugs have a RFID radio chip built into them, so that when a guest wants a drink, they can scan the mug. Once your pre-paid time runs out, the drinks machines know not to allow any drinks to be poured into the mug. The drinks fountains will also show your remaining days.
The mugs can be purchased by anyone (even if you aren't staying at a resort). A mug is included for each guest on the Disney Dining Plan.
Prices for the mugs are:
The new mugs work out a great deal for those staying for more than 4 days. Even if you only used it once a day for a 7 night stay, it works out to be just $2.57 per drink. For a 14 night stay using the mug twice a day (28 drinks), it works out at only $0.64.
