The new bus loop at the Magic Kingdom opened to the public yesterday. The bus loop was built to replace the older one that had been in use for over 20 years.
The new bus stop area was built to cope with higher guest capacities, as well as newer articulated busses that Disney has been testing over the last year. The new busses bring a significant capacity increase, allowing more guests to be transported. Guests coming from large resorts such as All Stars and Pop Century are regularly waiting for a second bus due to the first reaching capacity, so this will be a welcomed improvement.
The other benefit is that for routes not using articulated busses, two buses can fit into each stop.
There are 34 stops in the new loop, with routes to Disney's Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom opening on December 15 2013, occupying stops 4/5 and 6.
Disney has yet to announce if or when a full-scale rollout of articulated 'bendy' busses can be expected. We'd however assume it will be at least a year before they are operating in a significant manor due to them needing to place such a large order.
