The Wave...of American Flavors at Disney's Contemporary Resort introduces Wine on Tap

Apr 23rd 2014 at 8:43

The Wave...of American Flavors restaurant inside Disney's Contemporary resort has introduced a new service - Wine on Tap, offering fresher wines.

The new method means that wines are stored in kegs instead of bottles, and do not come into contact with any air during the pumping process. This means that the wines last for up to 60 days longer than they otherwise would have, and don't have their taste affected by contact with air.

This concept is being used with a selection of wines, including:

  • Smith & Hook Cabernet Sauvignon
  • NxNW Riesling
  • J Vinyards Pinor Gris
  • Acrobat Pinot Noir

This new method is actually being used as part of an environmental initiative, and means that the carbon footprint of 1 keg (which is the equivalent to 26 bottles of wine) is reduced by 96% during the lifetime of the wine. It also means that for each keg used, it removes the same amount of Carbon as taking a car off the road for 2 and a half years.
