Disney using height test balloons at Animal Kingdom for Avatarland

Nov 20th 2013 at 10:59

WDWMagic reports that Disney were yesterday using height test balloons at the Animal Kingdom.

A height test balloon is used to determine how high a building (or in this case, attraction) can be, before it becomes visible in other areas of the park, and surrounding areas. This is generally done to help with planning and to give the building designers an idea of what height restrictions are imposed.

There were reports of 5 balloons being used yesterday, which were approx. 3 to 4 stories up. This would indicate that whilst they are still in the planning stages for buildings, ground work is likely to start early next year, soon after Festival of the Lion King closes.
