Later this week work will begin on expanding the parking lot at Disney's Animal Kingdom. This is just the latest in a long line of construction projects, which will see a major expansion to the theme park.
Construction work begins on June 23, 2014 and will start in the 'Yeti' parking lot area. This is the least-busy part of the parking lot so wont impact any guests visiting the park. The plan is to expand all parking lot areas to allow more cars. The work wont actually take all that long, with the expansion estimated completion date set as September 22, 2014.
The expanded parking space is likely primarily for future expansion works to the park, which will increase it's maximum guest count significantly.
